I was on my way to work today and my roommate called me and said they were tested positive for Covid. I called my boss and left a message then the company nurse. She quarantined me for 10 days. Few hours later she calls back saying my boss’ boss said HR needs to see the positive test result in order to get paid and not get payed off potentially for not showing what they asked foe. Can an employer ask for your roommates medical records showing their positive Covid Test? Is that not a Hipaa violation?

That's a tough one.....both sides are valid and have reason

My wife works for a nation wide company....they are restricting air travel for anyone in the company and if you are to fly anywhere when you return to work you will be off for 10-14 days with no pay

What's tough about that? Of course they can't have your roommates info.

Just borrow his paper work. Print up your own and just change the name and numbers. Slap a header on it from a cut/copy/paste of some logo to whatever medical gigs are in your town. Date it and crinkle it a bit. Walk in and slap a positive on their desk and say you will be taking a 2 week paid vacation. Nothing they can do.

Do the
Sars-covid2
and
Serology antigen test also.

Hell just google CV test results in images and I’m sure stuff pops up. Then format your own.

The world wants to play stupid games of fear and control then flip the script and do the same.

I think I have had CV19 7 times already. I’m on 14 weeks of paid vacation. It’s great man! Don’t be scared.

UPDATE and Verdict-

I got a main Union Rep involved and told him my story i wrote above. He immediately said, "they cant ask for that as it violates Hipaa." So he took care of it. I get 2 weeks off paid.

Thanks for everyones response, i appreciate it.

it’s an issue all employers are facing. The govt is going to give tax credits for paying you, however they are suppose to have documentation of the positive. So they are asking for the companies benefit. From what I’ve been told
